Local people in Hollingwood showed their community spirit by taking their shovels out for several hours, clearing the main road of snow, and helping cars and trucks to get moving again. Awesome!
Following the recent announcement that an autoclave re-cycling plant was to be built on the old brickworks site, off Campbell Drive, Natascha Engel M.P. hosted a public meeting at St Andrew’s Church, last evening, to hear resident’s views.
The potential effects on public health in a residential area were widely discussed and particular concerns were raised about the cumulative effect of such developments in the vicinity, the composition of the proposed liaison committee, the lack of communication about the development and the knock on effect of increased traffic through Staveley, Hollingwood, Eckington and other areas.
Natascha will be raising these – and other – points with the developers and with Derbyshire County Council and hopes to hold another meeting in the New Year.
