Get active this summer holiday!  Derby County multi-sports sessions will run throughout the six weeks holiday. Every Tuesday from 24th July. 10am-12pm




Archaeology Week at the Roundhouse – Monday 23rd July and Sunday 5th August
Trent Peak, a team of archaeologists will be undertaking a dig in front of the Roundhouse where the ‘Long Row’ workers’ houses once stood. Every day of the dig you can pop in and chat to the archaeologists at a special stand in our car park to find out more about our work.
On Monday 30th July, Tuesday 31st July and Wednesday 1st August, there will be special time slots for you to book on with your family and get involved with the dig. More details of booking will follow
On Saturday 4th August and Sunday 5th August there will be a special day full of family activities for you to pop in and get involved with.

Saturday August 18th: HRA Summer Fair
It’s time for the great HRA Summer Fair again folks! Come along for a fun day out, loads of stalls, Go Karts, games and fun fair rides, BBQ and music! We will once again be applying to close Private Drive from 7am to 7pm so there can be stalls on the road as well as the pub car park. This event is organised by Hollingwood Residents Association and hosted by the Hollingwood Hotel.

Barrow Hill Roundhouse Garden and Wildlife Friendly Day

Saturday 25th August 10am-4pm

Bring your family to the Roundhouse to learn about the wildlife around us and what we can do to protect it through displays and a range of fun activities from local wildlife charities including Bumblebee Conservation Trust, East Midlands Butterfly Conservation, Mid Derbyshire Badger Group and Derbyshire Amphibian and Reptile Group. Then listen to an exciting talk on the secrets of wildlife filming from professional wildlife photographer Michael Leach at 2pm and take part in one of his fun and fascinating family friendly workshops about living and communicating with gorillas at 11am.

Barrow Hill Roundhouse World War One Weekends

Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October 10am-4pm
Saturday 27th October 10am-4pm
Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November 10am-4pm

Join us to mark the centenary of the end of World War One by exploring a special pop-up exhibition in the Roundhouse on how the conflict affected people locally in Derbyshire. Listen to speakers give special talks on the subject and take part in creating a symbolic piece of community artwork to mark the occasion that will be displayed on Remembrance Weekend. Details of speakers and talk timings will be published soon.

Saturday 27th October: HRA Hallowe’en Kids Party

Barrow Hill Roundhouse Halloween Fun – Sunday 28th October 10am-4pm

Things are getting a bit spooky at the Roundhouse. Don your Halloween costumes and join us for a family fun day filled with tricks and treats. Have a go at monster mask making in our learning room, listen to some chilling tales told by professional storyteller Sophie Snell and join us for a screening of a special spooky film made by students at Springwell Community College.

Sunday 11th November: Remembrance Sunday.

Saturday 8th December: HRA Christmas Kids Party

Get your Christmas jumpers on! Yes it’s the most wonderfull time of the year. The HRA Christmas Party will once again feature a disco, an entertainer (details pending), hot food served to table, Christmas Raffle draw and last but not least a visit from Santa himself!! Tickets will go on sale near the event, price to be announced. This event is organised by Hollingwood Residents Association and held at The Hollingwood Hotel

Christmas Family Fun at Barrow Hill Roundhouse – Saturday 8th December 10am-4pm

Join us for a day of Christmas crafting and festive musical accompaniments that will get you feeling all jolly. More details to be announced nearer the time.
