The popular BBC TV antiques programme, ‘Flog It!’, presented by Paul Martin, is set to visit the area later this month.The cameras are to roll for a valuation day at the iconic Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre on Thursday, September 29 (9.30 am to 4 pm).
Members of the public will be invited to go along to the unique heritage attraction with up to three antiques or collectables they might be interested in selling. Once the items are valued, the owners and a team of experts decide whether they should go forward for auction at Hansons Auctioneers in Etwall on Thursday, October 20. Everyone who goes to the valuation day will receive a free appraisal of their items, even if they are not chosen for auction.
The local community was well represented at a preview of this weekend’s “Ticket to Ride” event at Barrow Hill Roundhouse. Featuring steam engines, exhibits, train rides and much more, this prestigious event will bring hundreds of people from all over the country to our area.
The historic Barrow Hill Roundhouse rail centre has successfully got through the first stage of a bid for £100,000 of Heritage Lottery Funding to preserve the site as a national treasure.
Judges have been greatly impressed with the development of the centre, off Campbell Drive, and its array of diverse events, attractions and commercial roles alongside its ambitious plans for the future. Read more here
